How did Pea Pie start?
While living abroad in Hong Kong, I started having clothes made for my son, mostly just bigger versions of what I brought with me from home, jon jons and bubbles. I really enjoyed the process of picking out the fabric, adding or taking away from the original idea and then turning it into my own creation.
I love traditional clothes for babies and children. Time moves so quickly, they grow so fast, for me, it has always been important to dress my children well and like children. Quality is also very important to me. I have had too many bad internet purchases, they seemed like a good deal, but once the product was in my hand, I was unsatisfied. So it was a win-win for me to pick the high-quality fabrics in person, in Hong Kong, to feel them, then have an outfit designed around traditional patterns, with an up to date look. Not too traditional, but not sassy, just right in the middle.
Then, after a few rounds, I thought, I could do this for friends...and so Pea Pie Children's Clothes was started. Right in my tiny Hong Kong apartment, baby at my feet, husband across from me at our dining room table...everything else just fell into place.
What's in a name?
The name Pea Pie come from the nick name for our son, it is also what we Southerners say when playing peek-a-boo, it's Peek-Eye with a Southern Drawl....
Where are the clothes made?
Our factory is located in Hong Kong and so is the Pea Pie team, that means we have a hands on approach with every step of the Pea Pie Children's Clothes line, it also means there is no middle man, so we can pass the savings on to our customers.Our workers are happy!
